Our Mission

It is the primary mission of Trap Dat Cat to control the overbreeding of community cats in New Orleans, LA through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and to raise awareness of and to educate the public about the community cats in New Orleans, and the problems that can occur if cats are not spayed/neutered. As a part of this mission, we also rescue and rehabilitate sick and/or injured cats, and coorinate and facilitate kitten foster and adoption for kittens unable to be returned outside.

What is TNR?

TNR is the most humane and effective method known for managing feral and stray cats and reducing their numbers. The cats, who typically live together in a group called a colony, are trapped and brought to a veterinary clinic. They're then spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and eartipped. After they've recovered from their surgeries, the cats are returned back to their original territory where a caretaker provides regular food and shelter.
