OWNED CATS
If you have an owned cat or kitten (kittens must weigh 3 pounds), it lives indoors, and you can put it in a carrier, you do not need to use the TNR program. Cats going through the TNR program do not receive the same services that an owned cat receives. If this is your owned cat, you want it to have the best care available, and it doesn't have to get an eartip. The LA SPCA has a Low Cost Spay/Neuter program for owned cats. The cost is $115 for the spay/neuter surgery. Anything additional is extra. If you want vaccines and a microchip it will be closer to $200. BUT HERE IS THE GOOD NEWS! If you cannot afford this, there is a program for Orleans and Plaquemines Parish residents for financial assistance. You can get the cost spread out over 6 months or a year, and if you cannot afford to make payments, they may be able to cover the costs of surgery for you. All you have to do is apply for assistance.
